GitHub integration for AI chat

Connect your GitHub account and the Endless agent can search your repositories, read and open issues, review pull requests and push a change, all from the chat you already work in.

What the agent can do with GitHub

  1. 01

    Search code and repositories

Find a function across every repository you can see, read a file or a folder, and list a repository's branches, tags and releases.

  2. 02

    Read and triage issues

List and search issues, read one with its comments, open a new one, update it, comment on it or add a sub-issue.

  3. 03

    Review pull requests

Read a pull request, write a review with line comments, ask Copilot for a review and merge it when it is ready.

  4. 04

    Change files and branches

Create a branch, edit a file or push several in one commit, and open a pull request with the change.

  5. 05

    Follow commits

Read a branch's commit history, open a single commit and search commits by message or author.

  6. 06

    Scan for leaked secrets

Check files or recent changes for API keys, passwords and tokens before you push them.

Things to ask

  • “Summarize the pull requests merged in acme/web this week, grouped by area.”
  • “Find where our repositories call the billing webhook and explain what it does.”
  • “Open an issue in acme/web for the broken sign-up redirect, with the steps from this chat.”
  • “Review pull request 482 in acme/api and comment on anything risky.”

How to set it up

  1. 01

    Open connectors

In Endless, open Settings and go to Connectors.

  2. 02

    Connect GitHub

Connect GitHub from its card, then approve access on GitHub's sign-in page.

  3. 03

    Ask in chat

Start a chat and ask for what you need. The agent uses GitHub when your request calls for it.

Frequently asked questions

  • What GitHub access does Endless ask for?

When you connect, Endless asks GitHub for the repo, read:org and read:user scopes. The agent reaches only the repositories and organizations your own GitHub account can.

  • Can the agent change code in GitHub?

Yes. It can create a branch, edit or push files, open a pull request and merge one, all as your account. It does so when your request asks for it, so say exactly what you want changed.

  • Do I need a GitHub account?

Yes. Each person in the workspace connects their own GitHub account, and the agent acts with that account's access. Nobody else in the workspace can use your connection.

  • Can a workspace admin turn GitHub off?

Yes. An admin can turn a connector off for the whole workspace in the Workspace tab of the connectors settings. Members choose for themselves among the connectors left on.

  • Can a scheduled task use GitHub?

Yes. A scheduled task can use the connectors its creator has connected, so a weekly report can read GitHub the same way a chat does.

  • Which chat models can use GitHub?

The chat model you pick in Endless gets the GitHub tools, so you can switch models in a conversation and keep the connection.
