The best Midjourney alternatives in 2026: features, pricing and limits
Leonardo, Ideogram, Adobe Firefly, Krea, Recraft, ChatGPT and Endless: what each one does differently from Midjourney, who it suits, what it costs and where it falls short.

Midjourney is still the tool many people picture when they think of AI images: a distinctive look, a big community and plans from $10 a month. People look for alternatives for concrete reasons. They need readable text inside an image, vectors, a free plan, a team account with shared billing, or other models next to the image one.
This guide covers seven alternatives and what each one is for. We make Endless, which is on the list, so read that section with that in mind. Where another tool is the better fit, we say so.
How we compared them
We read each company's homepage, pricing page and docs and link every price to its source. Prices are in US dollars, monthly unless we say otherwise, and several sites were running promotions, so check the linked page before you buy. We describe what each company says its product does; this is not a hands-on benchmark.
What Midjourney offers today
Midjourney sells four subscriptions: Basic ($10 a month), Standard ($30), Pro ($60) and Mega ($120), with 20% off on yearly billing. Plans differ by fast GPU time: Standard and above add unlimited image generation in Relax mode, Pro and Mega add unlimited SD video in Relax mode and Stealth mode for private work. A company grossing more than $1M a year needs Pro or Mega to use its output commercially. Every plan is a personal subscription; the plans page lists no team plan. Source: Midjourney plans.

Endless

What it is. A shared workspace where a team picks a chat, image, video or audio model for each task and everyone spends from one credit balance.
Best for. Marketing teams and agencies that make images as part of a campaign, next to the copy, the video and the research around it.
Key features.
- Image models from several makers in one place, among them Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5, Seedream 5.0, FLUX 3, Ideogram 4.5 and Krea 2 Turbo. The models page shows each one's cost in credits.
- Video, audio and chat models in the same workspace.
- Projects that carry a brand's voice, references and rules into every chat and generation.
- One credit pool with spending limits per person and per team, and a remote MCP server on every plan.
Pricing. Free with 50 credits a week. Hobby is $23 a month for one person, Basic $49 for up to 10 seats and Pro $99 for up to 50 seats; you pay for credits, not seats. A Nano Banana Pro image starts at 20 credits. Endless pricing.
Limits. Endless does not run Midjourney's models, so if you want that exact look, keep Midjourney. It has no community gallery or style references in the Midjourney sense, and the REST API is part of the Business plan.
Leonardo

What it is. A generative platform for images, video and design, with Leonardo's own models (Lucid Origin, Lucid Realism, Phoenix) next to third-party ones.
Best for. Creators who want presets, a real-time canvas and the option to train their own models.
Key features. Personal model training (10 to 50 a month on paid plans), Blueprints, a real-time canvas, upscaling, and unlimited relaxed generations on selected models from the Premium plan. There's a separate pay-as-you-go API.
Pricing. Free with 150 fast tokens a day. Essential is $12 a month, Premium $30 and Ultimate $60, before tax. Team plans start at $24 per seat (Starter) and $48 per seat (Growth). Leonardo pricing.
Limits. Usage is measured in tokens, so you'll need to work out how many generations a plan covers for the models you use. Unlimited relaxed generation covers only the models Leonardo lists. No chat models.
Endless vs Leonardo, fact by fact
Ideogram

What it is. An image model company that sells its own models (Ideogram 4.0 and 4.5) through an app, an API and an MCP server.
Best for. Posters, ads, thumbnails and anything where the words in the image have to be spelled right. Ideogram's homepage leads with "crystal-clear type" and prompt fidelity.
Key features. Ideogram Studio, character consistency, batch generation on Pro, an API with per-request pricing and an MCP server for Claude and Cursor.
Pricing. Plus is $20 a month ($15 on yearly billing), Pro $60 ($42 yearly) and Team $30 per user ($20 yearly). Pay-as-you-go credits cost 1¢ each. Ideogram pricing.
Limits. It's built around Ideogram's own models. The pricing page lists no free plan, only pay-as-you-go. Endless also offers Ideogram 4.5 if you want it next to other models.
Adobe Firefly

What it is. Adobe's AI app for images, video, audio and design, with models from Adobe, Google, OpenAI, Kling and others.
Best for. Teams already working in Photoshop and Adobe Express who want AI generation in the same account.
Key features. Firefly Boards, Generative Fill, translation of audio and video, sound effects and music generation. Higher plans include Photoshop on web and mobile and Adobe Express Premium.
Pricing. Standard is $9.99 a month (2,000 generative credits), Pro $19.99 (4,000), Pro Plus $49.99 (10,000) and Premium $199.99 (50,000); Pro Plus and Premium were listed at 30% off for the first year. There are free daily generations without a plan. Firefly plans. Prices change by country: the same page showed us Argentine pesos before we switched to the US view.
Limits. Generative credits are spent differently per feature and model, and the "unlimited" offers on select models are for the first year only. No chat models.

Krea

What it is. A creative suite to generate, enhance and edit images, video and 3D, with Krea's own models (Krea 3) next to third-party ones.
Best for. Hands-on image work: real-time generation, upscaling, LoRA training and moodboards.
Key features. Krea Agent, a node editor, an enhancer and upscaler, image-to-3D, a pay-as-you-go API and a hosted MCP server. Supported in-house models keep generating in relaxed mode after you run out of compute units.
Pricing. Free with 100 compute units a day. Basic (5,000 units a month), Pro (20,000) and Max (60,000) were shown at $5.25, $21 and $63 a month on yearly billing with a 40% discount running; Business, with 80,000 units, was shown at $160 a month. Krea pricing.
Limits. Seedance 2.5 and some models need Pro or above, and model access varies by plan. No chat models.
Recraft

What it is. An image tool for designers, with Recraft's own models (V4 and V4.1) and, on paid plans, third-party ones like Nano Banana, Seedream, GPT Image and FLUX.
Best for. Vector graphics, illustrations and brand assets that need a consistent style.
Key features. Editable vector output, custom styles made from your own images, custom color palettes, creative upscale and an API. Video models from the Pro plan.
Pricing. Free with daily limits. Basic is $10 a month and Pro $16 a month, both billed yearly; Teams is $18 per seat a month billed yearly, with a shared workspace and SSO. Recraft pricing.
Limits. On the free plan your images are public, owned by Recraft and not licensed for commercial use, and you get Recraft models only. No chat models.
ChatGPT

What it is. OpenAI's assistant, which also makes and edits images with OpenAI's image models.
Best for. Quick images when you're already writing in ChatGPT, and edits described in plain language.
Key features. Image generation and editing in the chat, projects, memory and file analysis. Plus lists "higher quality image creation".
Pricing. A free plan, Plus at $20 a month and Pro from $100. Business seats are $25 a month ($20 on yearly billing). ChatGPT pricing and Business pricing.
Limits. Only OpenAI's image models, and fewer controls over style, resolution and batches than an image-first tool.
